Founded in 1984, NAMI Central Texas, formerly NAMI Austin, is a member of the largest grassroots mental health organization in the United States, the National Alliance on Mental Illness. MHA is a powerful voice for healthy communities throughout the nation and offers information, referrals, and resources for individuals living with any type of mental illness. One of MHA’s services includes online screening, which is one of the quickest and easiest ways to determine whether you are experiencing symptoms of a mental health condition. Mental health conditions, such as depression or anxiety, are real, common and treatable. And recovery is possible.
MHA of Texas is the state’s leading source for mental health information, education and advocacy.
Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA) changes lives, saves lives and impacts lives, through education, peer support groups and advocacy for those diagnosed with a mental health illnesses and empowers their family and friends to embrace their independence, advocate for improved services, and to love them for who they are.
DBSA Heart of Texas provides FREE and CONFIDENTIAL support groups for individuals living with, or family and friends affected by, depression and bipolar disorders. Support is essential to recovery. One of the most helpful things one person can say to (or hear from) another is “I’ve been there.” Depression and bipolar disorder can be isolating illnesses, but DBSA has many ways to help connect you with others who have been there as well.
Our meetings are held once a week on Monday evenings 7:00-8:30PM. These meetings take place in the cafeteria of Seton Shoal Creek Hospital, located at 3501 Mills Ave. in Austin, behind the Randall’s grocery store that faces West 35th Street.
There is no fee or registration required, just show up. We do ask that you be 18 years old to attend the meetings.
DBSA Round Rock and DBSA San Antonio offer support groups for people with mood disorders, such as Bipolar Disorder and Depression. Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA) San Antonio is holding virtual meetings on Mondays 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on Thursdays 7:00-8:30 p.m.
