NAMI is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. Your local NAMI Affiliates and volunteer leaders work in communities across the country to raise awareness and provide essential and free education, advocacy, and support group programs.

The Mission of NAMI Jacksonville is to support and improve the quality of life for family members and those living with mental illnesses and co-occurring substance abuse through compassion, education, and advocacy. MHA is a powerful voice for healthy communities throughout the nation and offers information, referrals, and resources for individuals living with any type of mental illness. One of MHA’s services includes online screening, which is one of the quickest and easiest ways to determine whether you are experiencing symptoms of a mental health condition. Mental health conditions, such as depression or anxiety, are real, common and treatable. And recovery is possible.

Mental Health America of East Central Florida provides programs and services that support persons with mental illnesses, their families and friends and the community with needed information, referrals and resources. Our programs also support the acceptance of people with mental illness into our communities through increasing awareness and the reduction of stigmas surrounding mental illnesses.

Community Health Outreach:  Our Healing Hands Medical Clinic provides free primary healthcare for the uninsured with low to no income. Our staff physician assistant and bilingual medical assistant along with volunteer physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, and nursing students see patients on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Patients must submit an eligibility form that can be found on this website or picked up in front of the Medical Clinic Monday through Friday from 9 am to 1 pm. Once eligibility is determined, you will be scheduled for care.

Our Dental Clinic provides free dental services including emergency extractions, fillings, and cleanings for the uninsured and those with low to no income. Dental clinics are held throughout the week depending on the availability of our providers.

The CHO Lord’s Pantry provides drive thru grocery distribution on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday mornings from 8:30 am to 11 am. We serve about 700 clients each week with about 50 pounds of groceries each visit. All in need are welcome. Our groceries are provided by our food service agencies Farm Share, Feeding NE Florida, Waste Not Want Not, Publix, Winn Dixie, Aldi, Walmart, and Fresh Market. Clients will need to receive food by arriving in a car.

Baby Luv is our baby supply and pregnancy testing center. We are open on Wednesdays, and Saturdays from 10 am to noon. Our clients are eligible to come to choose items once a month and including clothing, baby equipment, toys, books, diapers, wipes, and formula.

The Women’s Center of Jacksonville, founded in 1995 as a non-profit, community-based resource center dedicated to improving the lives of women, has grown from providing a limited information and referral service from a rented room in the Riverside neighborhood to serving over 7,500 persons annually at our locations in Arlington, the S.A.F.E. Center in Southside, and satellite locations in Nassau and Baker counties. In addition to our educational, mental health counseling, peer support, and rape victim advocacy services, WCJ is the certified Rape Crisis Center for Duval, Nassau, and Baker counties and provides forensic exams for sexual assault survivors of all genders over the age of 18.

Sulzbacher Center For The Homeless offers short term emergency housing for men, women and families with children. This program includes three meals per day and access to the full array of services including case management, healthcare, job placement, veteran’s services, children’s services and housing placement. Sulzbacher Village: A Community for Women & Families offers several options for people experiencing homelessness or people at-risk of becoming homeless to find permanent housing placement. Sulzbacher Center Meal Assistance – Sulzbacher’s Downtown Campus serves nutritious meals to anyone in the community who is hungry 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Through the amazing support of volunteers, over 1,500 meals are served daily to hungry and homeless people in Jacksonville. Clients in Sulzbacher’s Short-term Emergency Housing are served three meals a day, and meals are open to the community twice a day, lunch daily at 12pm and dinner daily at 6pm.

Sulzbacher Downtown Adult Health Center is funded through the Health Resources and Services Administration (an agency of the US Department of Health and Human Services) and offers comprehensive healthcare to anyone in the community in need. Sulzbacher’s Health Centers are classified as Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) and as such, are designed as safety net providers that serve medically underserved areas and populations. Sulzbacher Downtown Urban Rest Stop is provided through a partnership with the City of Jacksonville and Mental Health Resource Center. The Urban Rest Stop at Sulzbacher’s Downtown Campus is a place for people experiencing homelessness to go during the day to receive services. The Urban Rest Stop is not a day resource center, but it accomplishes the same goal by providing services during the day to those still living on the streets. Services include: case management, showers, meals, healthcare, mailboxes, shelter placement, job referrals and more.  Services are available from 7:30am – 4pm, Monday through Friday.

Sulzbacher HOPE Street Outreach Teams are street outreach teams that work to engage and bring services to those persons experiencing homelessness who are living on the streets in Downtown Jacksonville and at the Beaches. Designed with a medical focus, the HOPE Teams utilize trained medical outreach specialists to engage individuals and begin to build the trust needed to provide services. The HOPE Teams distribute clothing, blankets, food, water, and basic hygiene items to their clients. Medical and psychiatric staff travels with the van to provide medical outreach. Sulzbacher operates two HOPE Teams, one serves the greater downtown area, and a second team serves the communities of Jacksonville Beach, Neptune Beach and Atlantic Beach. Three additional HOPE Teams are operated in partnership with Changing Homelessness and the Department of Veterans Affairs. These teams are dedicated to meeting the needs of our homeless Veterans.
