NAMI is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. Your local NAMI Affiliates and volunteer leaders work in communities across the country to raise awareness and provide essential and free education, advocacy, and support group programs.
NAMI-Finger Lakes is the Ithaca, NY affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). We seek to:
- Support families and friends of people diagnosed with major mental illnesses
- Educate families and the public about mental illness
- Advocate for families and their ill relative
NAMI-Finger Lakes is a non-profit organization of volunteers, most of whom have loved ones living with mental illness. As a result, we are very familiar with local human services for people experiencing and living in recovery from from mental illnesses. Our volunteers and staff can share their knowledge and experience with you.

MHA is a powerful voice for healthy communities throughout the nation and offers information, referrals, and resources for individuals living with any type of mental illness. One of MHA’s services includes online screening, which is one of the quickest and easiest ways to determine whether you are experiencing symptoms of a mental health condition. Mental health conditions, such as depression or anxiety, are real, common and treatable. And recovery is possible.
Mental Health Association of Rochester/Monroe County is a not-for-profit organization that has been promoting mental wellness since 1932! We foster an environment to build skills and provide support to people who are facing a mental health challenge, empowering them to make informed decisions on their self-directed path to wellness through a variety of programs and services. We envision a time when the stigma of mental illness will be eliminated and all residents of our community will have access to a full continuum of high quality, easily accessible, and culturally competent mental health services, regardless of ability to pay.

Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA) changes lives, saves lives and impacts lives, through education, peer support groups and advocacy for those diagnosed with a mental health illnesses and empowers their family and friends to embrace their independence, advocate for improved services, and to love them for who they are. Depression and Bipolar Disorder can be isolating illnesses, but DBSA peer to peer support groups can help you connect with others who have been there as well. Visit a DBSA support group and get the support that is essential to recovery.
