Celebrate National Wellness Month this August!

Every August, National Wellness Month puts a spotlight on something clinical research sites already know matters: well being isn’t a nice to have, it’s foundational. The goal is simple. Inspire healthy habits, cut down on stress, and build a sense of connection, both within the wellness world and closer to home.

What Wellness Looks Like at a Research Site

A strong culture of well being goes beyond a meditation app or a quiet room. For staff, it means real support around mental health, caregiving demands, financial stress, and the emotional weight of working closely with patients in crisis. For patients enrolled in a trial, it means recognizing that a study visit is one more thing layered onto an already full day, and how staff show up in that moment matters.

The research backs this up. Organizations that genuinely invest in employee well being see a strong link between well being and performance, and staff who feel supported stay longer and engage more fully in their work.

Simple Things Sites Can Do This Month

Build in short breathers between patient visits
Ask patients how they’re doing beyond the study questionnaire
Post a rotating wellness tip in a shared staff space or waiting room
Encourage staff to take a real lunch break away from their desk
Keep a short list of local mental health resources at the front desk for patients who need more

None of this takes a budget. It just takes showing up for the people in the building, staff and patients alike, a little more intentionally this month.

Take the Pledge

This August, we’re inviting sites, staff, and patients across our network to take the “I Choose Wellness” pledge. It’s a small commitment with a real payoff: more focus, more presence, and more energy for the work that matters most.
