Leveraging Clinical Research to Fill Gaps in Mental Health Care for Families
Panel presentation from the National Federation of Families Annual Conference

Carol Witham, Pillar Clinical Research, Andrea King, Inspiration Day Treatment Center, and Erica Moore, The Starr Coalition

Families across the country face increasing challenges in accessing quality mental health care, and the upcoming Medicaid budget cuts threaten to further limit essential services for their loved ones. Community Mental Health Centers (CMHCs), which serve as critical support systems for families, are also struggling to meet demand with fewer resources. This panel discussion will explore how CMHCs and families can leverage clinical research to improve care options for their loved ones. We will provide practical strategies, share real world experiences, and offer guidance on how families can advocate for research as part of the continuum of care. The session will also enrich understanding of different perspectives and common goals, uniting families, providers, and researchers in support of better mental health care for all.
